Parking minimums are relatively self-explanatory. They are a required minimum number of parking spaces per dwelling unit, a dwelling unit including duplexes, apartment buildings or cottages, for example. Cutting parking minimums from the UDO would enable developers to have more freedom in determining how much parking to include on a specific site plan. I urge the common council and the mayor to take a close look at the requirement of parking minimums. Plenty of people do not drive, especially in areas that are walkable or located by public transit.
