HVAC: Impact continues to stymie energy transition efforts – report

The global Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) industry could delay the energy transition to net-zero by years, says a recently released report. “It would take the equivalent of six trillion residential solar panels to meet the global energy demand for air-conditioning in 2023 alone. “Indeed, air conditioning energy use is expected to triple by 2050,” the report states. This is needed to take energy off the grid and limit HVAC’s over-consumption of renewable energy. New renewable energy generation must radically outpace rising global demand and energy consumption of heating and cooling technology.
