Khalifa Haftar met UN Special Representative Hanna Tetteh, head of the UN Support Mission in Libya, to discuss ongoing cooperation in stabilising the country. The meeting, held at Haftar’s headquarters in Benghazi, was also attended by UN Deputy Head for Political Affairs Stephanie Koury and members of both delegations. According to Haftar’s media office, Tetteh briefed him on the structured dialogue committees’ discussions and dialogues, which aim to create a roadmap for holding presidential and parliamentary elections. Haftar confirmed his support for the UN mission’s initiatives, stressing the importance of advancing the political process and ultimately conducting both presidential and parliamentary elections. The two sides agreed to maintain continuous coordination and consultation to support the UN mission’s work in achieving lasting stability in Libya.
