Hamid Ansari signs off as Vice-President


A career-diplomat and politician Mohammad Hamid Ansari ends his two successful terms as Vice-President of India today. He was first elected as the Vice-President of India and the Rajya Sabha Chairman in 2007 and reelected in 2012 defeating Jaswant Singh of BJP by a margin of 252 votes. Hamid Ansari while delivering his last speech in the house said that "a decade is a long time in the life of an individual." It's only source of reference is the book of rules, said Ansari. This house is a creation of the constitution and reflecting of the foresight and wisdom of the founding fathers who wished to portray India's diversity.
