Health alert raised over first UK outbreak of deadly coronavirus

Health officials have stepped up their public warnings about coronavirus after the confirmation yesterday of Britain’s first cases of the deadly disease. The government has set up a website for those who have questions about “the best ways to slow the spread of almost any germs, including coronavirus”. It advises people to carry tissues to catch coughs and sneezes, and to wash hands with soap and water or use a sanitiser gel. The Foreign Office confirmed today that it will be withdrawing some of its staff from China just hours after flying dozens of UK nationals home from the city of Wuhan, the epicentre of the outbreak. The coronavirus was first detected barely a month ago but the number of confirmed global cases has already reached at least 9,692 PETER MACDIARMID/LNPThe news comes as a search began for anyone who spent more than 15 minutes in close contact
