George is the latest senior military officer to be ousted during PresidentDonald Trump's second term. During a nearly four-decade military career, George deployed to Iraq andAfghanistan multiple times and also served in positions including vice chiefof staff of the Army and senior military assistant to Pentagon chief LloydAustin during Joe Biden's term as president. The army's vice chief of staff General Christopher LaNeve will take over asacting chief of staff, CBS reported. Trump has overseen a purge of top military officers, including the chairmanof the Joint Chiefs of Staff, general Charles "CQ" Brown, whom he firedwithout explanation in February 2025.
