Hemingway ‘wannabes’ celebrate author with lookalike contest


Ernest Hemingway looks on from the walls of the Hemingway Home and Museum in Key West. Participants vie for the prize of best Hemingway lookalike. That is the version of Hemingway which most of the contestants at the lookalike contest – this year, there were 137 – aim to emulate. Collin Cope, a participant in the lookalike contest, gets his scarf adjusted. The very first lookalike contest was held in 1981 and organised by the then-manager of Sloppy Joe’s, Michael Walton.
