Hospitality seeks help with Brexit


The government has been urged to establish Brexit hubs across the country to help hospitality and drinks businesses offset the costs of Britain’s exit from the EU. A drop off of more than a fifth in the value of the sterling, along with a decrease in UK tourism and an increase in cross-border shopping are of “particular concern” to the sector, according to a report from Drinks Industry Group of Ireland (DIGI). The report, written by Anthony Foley, an economist at Dublin City University, suggested that schemes such as Enterprise Ireland’s “Be Prepared Grant” should be opened up to businesses in the hospitality industry.
