Waikato woman Emily Rogers is grateful to the blood donors who helped save her life following a horse riding accident. Supplied Despite her accident, Emily Rogers is back up and riding her horse Vee again. In the first 24 hours, she needed 50 units of blood products - blood, platelets and plasma - that's roughly the equivalent of 20 litres. 50 units of blood products - that's what Emily Rogers needed to stay alive in those first 24 hours. From the donations of plasma, up to 12 different lifesaving blood products can be made.
