Hudson Accelerates Reopening Of 700 Shuttered Stores At U.S. Airports


Hudson GroupIncreasing passenger traffic in U.S. airports has encouraged the biggest travel retailer in North America to speed up the reopening of more than 700 stores in airports, commuter hubs, landmarks, and tourist locations. Hudson has just over 1,000 stores in 87 travel-related locations in North America, with 82% of its business concentrated in the U.S. and the rest in Canada. A deal with global eyewear giant Luxottica Group means that popular brands like Ray-Ban and Oakley will be available at 250 Hudson stores by 2022. Hudson has added stores at LaGuardia Airport Terminal B; Los Angeles International Airport’s midfield satellite concourse; and at Atlantic City International Airport were a combination Hudson/Dunkin store has opened. This 10-strong team will shrink to eight by September and so-called country clusters will be rationalized from 23 to seven, plus North America.
