It’s called the Ahuroa Gas Storage Facility and it’s near Stratford in central Taranaki. It stores natural gas coming from offshore Taranaki until it’s needed by natural gas users. Underground natural gas storage has been widely used over decades in Canada, Russia and pretty much all over the world.
