On June 14, the assembly became the first to adopt the vote on account budget after Timamy allegedly refused to approve the county budget. Speaking in Lamu town on Friday, Timamy said the MCAs passed the vote on account budget out of selfishness. Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has said he will not to approve the 2016-17 budget until he reaches an agreement with the MCAs. He is also opposed to the Sh406 million vote on account budget the MCAs passed recently. Timamy said the MCAs should not have made more than one per cent changes to the financial report used to prepare the budget.
