IT celebrates first graduates in sociology and politics

The three-year BA (hons) Sociology and Politics award is among the first Humanities degree programmes in the IoT sector, and is unique in representing the social sciences within the new CUA Technological University. Lecturers on the programme have extensive research and teaching experience, and facilitate active learning through methods including role play, simulation and reflective debate. Dr Claire McGing (IADT Dun Laoghaire Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager) said: "The BA (Hons) in Sociology and Politics at IT Sligo brings together the concerns, theories and methodologies of these two linked subjects. Our societies require talented people capable of tackling such complex, multi-level difficulties and through its BA Sociology and Politics, IT Sligo plays a societally-important role by producing engaged, creative and highly capable graduates who contribute solutions to pressing, real-life issues." Potential areas of employment for graduates include advocacy, teaching, local/national government, NGOs, community development, journalism, public relations, research and academia.
