If soaking in the tub sounds more appealing than running a lap of the park, researchers have good news. Hot baths and saunas can mimic many of the health benefits of exercise, according to Coventry University. Such “heat therapies” raise core body temperature and improve blood flow around the body, with benefits including better fitness levels, lower blood pressure, tighter blood sugar control for diabetics and reduced inflammation. Sadly they do not seem to increase muscle mass or take off weight, the researchers said. SponsoredCharles Steward, one of the authors, said the findings might be particularly helpful for people who found it hard to get out and about.
