Ireland have been relegated to Group III of the Davis Cup after falling 3-1 behind to Syria in Limerick. Confirmation of their drop from the second tier after five years came on Sunday afternoon with Michael Agwi’s singles loss to Taym Al Azmeh. Peter Buldorini restored parity overnight with a tight 7-6 6-4 defeat of Taym Al Azmeh, despite bad cramping in the second set. Taym Alazmeh of Syria, right, celebrates with Hazem Naw during the Davis Cup doubles match against Conor Gannon and Charlie Barry of Ireland. Buldorini's last singles game still went ahead but that was the tie over and Ireland's relegation confirmed.
