MADURAI: It is puzzling why people in Kodaikanal want to oppose my marriage which is a private affair, said activist Irom Sharmila, who is set to get married to her British partner Desmond Coutinho at the Kodaikanal sub registrar's office on August 16. "Marriage or no marriage, my partner and I have put all our lives' savings in purchasing a house in Kodaikanal in installments. Only after this act is implemented, caste slaves of India will finally be freed, she said.Supporting Divya, Sharmila said that the reaction of the government was to ban the film and arrest the director on false charges. "I thought I had left behind these vicious tactics of the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act, but it continues to exist, 'she said. The truth is kept alive now by writers, artists and filmmakers like Divya Bharathi and added that they were also the defenders of human rights.
