JMB man gets life term in Natore arms case


A Natore court has sentenced a member of banned militant group Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to life imprisonment for possessing illegal arms. The convict, Rasel Ahmed alias Tamim, 23, is from Radhakanai village of Mymensingh’s Fulbaria upazila. The court also acquitted the second accused in the case, another JMB member Mofazzal Hossain, 31, as the charges against him were not proved. Quoting case details, Assistant Public Prosecutor Abdul Hai said, Rapid Action Battalion 5 arrested Tamim and Mofazzal during a raid on July 14, 2015, from Bonbelghoria area of Natore town with a pistol, two magazines and several documents of JMB. On March 13, another Natore court also sentenced both JMB members to 20-year imprisonment each in the second case, filed under the Anti-terrorism Act.
