Photo: BSSDHAKA, April 8, 2026 (BSS) – Veteran journalist Kamal Uddin Shabuj today joined as the Managing Director and Chief Editor of national news agency Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) a day after he was entrusted with the charge of the state-run wire service. The government yesterday issued a gazette notification appointing him as the new BSS chief on contractual basis under Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha Act, 2018. Better known as Shabuj in the community, his official name is Md Kamal Uddin Mozumder, who previously served BSS for 31 years and retired from the news agency as the news editor in 2023. He then joined the Dainik Desh Rupantor and prior to his new appointment was serving the private newspaper as its chief editor.
