Keir Starmer arrives in Saudi Arabia as he joins world leaders demanding Trump's Iran ceasefire is turned into 'lasting peace' that gets oil flowing

Keir Starmer has arrived in Saudi Arabia for talks about the fragile ceasefire hammered out between the US and Iran, as he joined world leaders in demanding it is turned into a 'lasting agreement' that gets oil and gas flowing. The Prime Minister is set to hold talks with Gulf leaders on how best to support the pause in fighting and ensure passage is permanently restored. Sir Keir is also expected to thank armed forces from the UK and allied countries who are posted in the region. Ahead of his arrival he joined the leaders of France, Italy, Germany, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Spain and the EU in welcoming the ceasefire. But a former Maersk executive poured cold water on hopes of a major restart to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz.
