An impressive Ouma then forced a fine save from City Stars goalkeeper Ronny Kagunzi for a fruitless corner in the ninth minute. Gor had a chance to go in front in the 20th minute but Jacques Tuyisenge feeble header went directly into Kagunzi's hands. In the 12th minute, Jimmy Bageya darted down the left flank only for his effort to be saved by Gor goalkeeper. After a frustrating 1-1 first half draw and with 90 minutes up, the unexpected happened when Okoth pounced on Enock Agwanda's long throw ball to break City Stars' resistance to move three points behind Tusker (37). In the 34th minute, Kagere's header was deflected for a corner which a City defender was lucky not to have found in his own net.
