Addressing a press conference on Friday, Chennai Jallikattu Peravai president P. Rajasekhar said 300 bulls from 15 districts, including Madurai, will participate in the bull-taming sport to be organised on a 100-acre plot in Kovalam in the southern suburbs of the city. The event will be regulated by law and subject to stringent conditions imposed based on the directions by the Supreme Court,” said Mr. Rajasekhar. Showcasing culture“More than 80% of the residents in Chennai have not witnessed jallikattu. The event will offer an opportunity to showcase the various cultural aspects relating to the sport,” he said. “We will invite all the people, including the Chief Minister and film personalities such as actors Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Ajith and Vijay,” said Amar Prasad Reddy, secretary of Chennai Jallikattu Peravai.
