Kozhikode native, whose husband died in Libya in 1991, continues to wait for compensation


She took some time to collect documents to seek compensation from the Libyan government through the Indian Mission there. Ms. Tripurasundari claims that though they had forwarded all the required papers to the Indian Mission, nothing was forthcoming. Ms. Elangovan approached the Kerala High Court in 2003. Ms. Elangovan again wrote to the Indian Mission in 2007, marking copies to the Minister for Overseas Indian Affairs and the Minister for External Affairs. The Indian Mission again took it up with the Libyan government, but to no avail.
