Kwara first-class monarchs seek national honours

An appeal has gone to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to confer national honours on more deserving fiirst-class traditional rulers in Kwara state in recognition of their roles in promoting peace and security. Aiyelabegan said that despite contributions of the traditional rulers, only four first-class monarchs in Kwara state currently hold national honours, a situation he said does not adequately reflect the leadership, legacy, and sacrifices of the state’s royal fathers. He also said that Kwara State’s first-class monarchs have demonstrated commitment to these values while contributing to community advancement and national stability. According to him, extending national recognition to more first-class monarchs in Kwara state would promote inclusivity, fairness, and appreciation for the vital role of traditional institutions in nation-building. Aiyelabegan, who is also a youth ambassador, expressed optimism that the Federal Government would give favourable consideration to the request in the interest of equity and national unity.
