LONDON: BEIRUT-BORN KHALAF ASCENDS TO EDITORSHIP OF FINANCIAL TIMES – FIRST WOMAN TOP EDITOR IN 131-YEAR HISTORY

“Yesterday was my first day on the job as editor of the Financial Times. This week, the newsroom bid a very fond farewell to Lionel Barber, who stepped down after 14 years at the helm, and 35 years at the Financial Times. Lionel leaves the FT as a truly digital publisher with more journalists on staff than when he took over in 2005. It is thanks to you — our more than 1 million paying readers — that we can sustain high quality journalism. I am immensely honoured and excited to lead the FT forward: translating old-fashioned reporting and classic storytelling for the digital age.
