Jan O’Sullivan, the Labour enterprise spokeswoman, said Ireland needed to address the gender imbalance in senior leadership roles after The Times revealed a huge disparity between the number of men and women heading up companies and state organisations. An analysis of the country’s biggest companies and state agencies found that just 19.2 per cent were led by women. The level of female representation at chief executive, managing director or country manager level fell to just 5.8 per cent among companies listed on the Irish Stock Exchange.
