Veteran actor Shashi Kapoor's contributions to the Indian film industry are known to one and all. One of the best known theatres in Mumbai, Prithvi Theatre was built by Shashi Kapoor and his wife Jennifer Kapoor, in memory of his father, Prithviraj Kapoor. Prithvi TheatrePrithviraj Kapoor had always dreamt of having a permanent ''home'' for his travelling theatre company, Prithvi Theatres, which was founded in 1942. It was Prithvi Theatre that provided a new avenue for Hindi drama, which experimented with new art forms and styles. Even today, Prithvi Theatre continues to acknowledge new talent and serve as a source of inspiration for many, with numerous shows organised per year.
