Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) & former Mayor Sayeed Khokon UNBTwo defamation cases were filed against former DSCC mayor Sayeed Khokon on MondayA Dhaka court on Tuesday deferred its order till January 19 on the acceptance of the two defamation cases filed against former Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor Sayeed Khokon for remarks on his successor Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh. On Monday, Advocate Kazi Anisur Rahman and Advocate Sarwar Alam, both members of Dhaka Bar Association, filed the cases with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court. On Saturday, former Khokon claimed that Taposh was no longer eligible for the office due to corruption. Also Read- Libel suit against Sayeed Khokon over remarks on Mayor TaposhThe former mayor alleged that Taposh has transferred hundreds of crores of taka from the DSCC funds to the Modhumoti Bank "that he owns and invested it to draw profits." The mayor has violated the City Corporation Act 2009, Khokon said before adding that Taposh should shun corruption himself before looking into the corruption of other DSCC officials.
