Libya’s Tripoli-based government announces major Cabinet reshuffle

TRIPOLI, Libya: Libya’s internationally recognised Government of National Unity (GNU) on Thursday announced a Cabinet reshuffle affecting 13 ministries, aimed at filling vacancies and boosting executive performance, reported Xinhua. The move followed a joint statement by Presidential Council head, Mohamed Al-Menfi; High Council of State head, Mohamed Takala; and Prime Minister Abdulhamid Dbeibah at government headquarters in Tripoli. The statement expressed support for the prime minister’s efforts to reorganise the Cabinet and fill vacant posts. This unified front marks a reversal from earlier in March, when Al-Menfi publicly rejected the reshuffle, labelling Dbeibah’s administration a “caretaker government” with limited authority to reorganise. The reshuffle includes the ministries of Economy, Health, and State for Migrant Affairs, among others.
