An Italian energy services provider has been contracted for the engineering, procurement, construction, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of an approximately 5,000-ton Gas Recovery Module offshore of Libya. The gas recovery module will be commissioned onto the existing DP4 offshore facility, together with the laying of 28km of pipelines connecting the DP3, DP4 and Sabratha platforms. Italian energy major Eni, which owns a 31% stake in Saipem, jointly controls both Saipem and Mellitah Oil & Gas B.V., Saipem said in a statement. Europe to benefit from gas development project in LibyaThis comes after Eni and the National Oil Corporation signed an agreement to develop the gas fields in January 2023. The project, the first major offshore development in Libya since 2000, is expected to come on stream in 2026.
