Libyan file at the center of Arab ministerial meeting in Algeria


Arab foreign ministers started the preparatory meeting for the Arab League summit scheduled for next Tuesday and Wednesday, and the meeting discusses the Libyan situation in the presence of Foreign Minister of the Government of National Unity, Najla Al-Mangoush. The Tunisian Foreign Minister Othman Jerandi hoped that the Libyan parties would reach a lasting settlement of the current crisis through a comprehensive Libyan dialogue in which Libya’s interest will prevail over all considerations. Jerandi called for a solidarity Arab move that would allow taking the lead in settling crises in Arab countries including Libya, Syria and Yemen for their stability and security within the framework of national sovereignty and to alleviate the humanitarian problems experienced by the peoples of those countries. The Algerian Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra reaffirmed that his country relies a lot on the contribution of everyone in the Arab summit to achieve a new start for joint action, according to an approach that goes beyond traditional methods to respond to the requirements of the present situation and can collectively chart a better future for Arab peoples and countries. The Algerian Foreign Minister also called for the necessity of assisting countries that suffer from circumstantial economic, political or security difficulties, with upholding the principles of good neighborliness, non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and respect for their sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
