Long-standing records broken at Taranaki swim champs


New Plymouth swimmer Claudia Kelly, 18, finished third in the girls 14 years and over 400m freestyle event at the Taranaki Winter Swimming Championships held at Stratford. New Plymouth swimmer Jackson Rowlands stamped his mark on the Taranaki Swimming Winter Championships, breaking three individual age group records during the two-day meeting at Stratford. Swimming Taranaki/Stuff Jackson Rowlands (left) and Callum Gordon, of Aquabladz Swimming Club, both broke age group records at the Taranaki Winter Swimming Championships at Stratford. Rowlands also broke the 100m and 200m freestyle records in the same age group. A notable omission from the meeting was 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games hopeful Zac Reid, 19, due to an undisclosed injury.
