Residents in New Delhi have chosen to stay home and avoid public spaces in anticipation of restrictions put in place for the upcoming G20 Summit. According to market associations, the Lajpat Nagar market witnessed only about 10% of its normal footfall on Friday. All markets in the New Delhi district will be closed until September 10 as a part of the restrictions for the G20 Summit. Despite the expectation that the G20 Summit would boost trade, traders reported only 20-25% of their usual business on Friday. In conclusion, the low footfall in markets across New Delhi can be attributed to residents choosing to stay home and the restrictions imposed due to the G20 Summit.
