Lower speed limits for parts of Dunedin

The St Clair change would drop the speed limit in the Esplanade area to 30kmh. Photo: GettySpeed limits are set to drop in Mosgiel and St Clair following a Dunedin City Council subcommittee's decision this week. If rubber-stamped by a full meeting of the council as expected, the speed limits bylaw amendment will drop speeds in a rapidly urbanising area of Mosgiel. The St Clair change will drop the speed limit in the Esplanade area to 30kmh, which council staff say will reflect the road environment and use. The subcommittee meeting followed a review of speed limits on roads throughout Dunedin with the objective of recommending the most appropriate safe speed limit for each road.
