Madeleine McCann's parents 'sent 2 letters by German police Brits failed to pass on'

German prosecutor Hans Christian Wolters said the first letter was to forewarn the family about the German authorities publicly announcing on June 3 that this is a murder inquiry and that Madeleine "is dead". Mr Wolters added they wrote to the family at a later date too, with The Sun suggesting this letter was posted last week. It comes after criticism of the way Gerry and Kate McCann have been treated by that country's authorities investigating convicted rapist Christian Brueckner, 43. German investigators want to retest a mystery saliva sample found in the holiday apartment the British toddler vanished from. Now German authorities want to carry out their own test on the “potentially vital evidence” in the hope a profile can be found.
