Malaysia welcomes temporary Iran-US ceasefire

A United States Air Force (USAF) B-52 Stratofortress bomber prepares to land at RAF Fairford airbase after a two-week ceasefire in the Iran war was announced, in Fairford, Gloucestershire, Britain, on April 8, 2026. REUTERS PICPUTRAJAYA: The cabinet has endorsed the temporary two-week ceasefire between Iran and the United States, describing it as a positive step towards aligning Iran's 10-point plan with the US's 15-point plan amid the ongoing conflict, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said. "It is certain that the parties in this conflict will implement a temporary ceasefire within this two-week period, allowing time to review and refine Iran's 10-point plan alongside the US's 15-point plan. Malaysia has urged all parties to fully respect and implement the ceasefire in good faith to prevent any return to hostilities. "Malaysia expresses its appreciation to all parties involved in the diplomatic efforts and mediations that led to this agreement," the statement said.
