PETALING JAYA: Eastvale, a California city near Los Angeles, now has a Malaysian-Vietnamese mayor who once lived in Kedah for a decade. The announcement of the swearing-in last Wednesday noted that she is the “youngest woman of colour to serve as a mayor of a Calfornia city”. On her appointment to the one-year term, Yow noted that she was one of the very few young mothers to serve as a mayor in California. In 2018, Yow was elected to the Eastvale city council. The Facebook of City of Eastvale was flooded with congratulatory messages for Yow since her appointment was made known.
