A man is appearing in Hamilton District Court after spitting at police. A 20-year-old man is set to appear in Hamilton District Court after spitting at police while being arrested. Police were called to a central Hamilton supermarket on Wednesday around 11:30am after the man had been suspected of shoplifting. After arresting the man he tried to flee and while being detained he spat at officers numerous times. The man was charged with common assault, escapes custody, theft and wilful damage and will appear in court on Thursday.
