Varane is expected to slot into the defence alongside captain Harry Maguire, meaning Victor Lindelof will become the first back-up. United could look to offload Jesse Lingard once Varane is through the door, as they need to recoup some money following a £110m outlay. There is also intense speculation over the future of Paul Pogba, with Paris Saint-Germain keen on signing the midfielder.
