By Spectrum News Staff & Associated Press |A 22-count indictment has been returned charging a man in the slayings of eight people during a truck attack on a bike path in New York City. Sayfullo Saipov, 29, of Paterson, New Jersey, was charged in Manhattan federal court with providing material support to the Islamic State group, along with eight counts of murder and 12 counts of attempted murder in aid of racketeering. Police said Saipov rented the pickup truck in New Jersey, drove into Manhattan, and barreled down the West Side Highway bike path on Halloween before officers arrested him. At least a dozen people were also injured in the midday attack that authorities called terrorism.
