After leaving day-to-day operations in 2017 following sexual misconduct allegations, celebrity chef Mario Batali “will no longer profit” from his restaurant empire, The New York Times reports. The Batali & Bastianich Hospitality Group, which Batali owned with primary partner Joe Bastianich, will cease operations. Its 16 restaurants – including Babbo and Del Posto in New York City – will operate under a new, yet-to-be-named company helmed by Joe’s sister, Tanya Bastianich Manuali. Acclaimed LA-based chef Nancy Silverton and Lidia Bastianich, chef and owner of New York City’s Felidia will also partner in the new company. “Eataly is in the process of acquiring Mr. Batali’s minority interest in Eataly USA,” Chris Giglio, a spokesperson for the company, told the Times.
