Matthew Whitaker, the acting U.S. attorney general, had much more involvement in an invention-promotion company shut down in 2017 by federal regulators than has been previously known, company documents show. The documents released by the Federal Trade Commission to The Wall Street Journal under the Freedom of Information Act show that Mr. Whitaker had numerous email exchanges in 2015 about customer-fraud complaints with the chief executive of the company, World Patent Marketing, for which Mr. Whitaker was a paid adviser....
