Contracts settled, injuries healed and pucks finding the net ... all’s well once again with Leafs William Nylander and Auston Matthews. All fine upstanding young men with special talents that got them to the NHL, but none clicked like Nylander did with Matthews — Kapanen came closest. After the contract stalemate, though, Nylander proved unable to play with Matthews. Like Nylander, Matthews had the distraction of a high-profile contract negotiation to deal with earlier this season. When you don’t feel good, you don’t play.
