Mr Flynn, a retired three-star general, was dismissed after only 24 days in the job in February when it was disclosed that he had secretly discussed sanctions with a Russian ambassador. He is under investigation by Robert Mueller, the former FBI director who is leading a special counsel investigation into whether the Trump campaign co-ordinated with the Kremlin. Mr Mueller is understood to be investigating work that Mr Flynn and his son, Michael Flynn Jr, carried out for figures linked to the Turkish government. Mr Flynn also reportedly failed…
