The Foreign Affairs Ministry and the Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) Ministry have agreed to strengthen cooperation to advance economic diplomacy through science, technology and innovation. Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow and MHESI Minister Yodchanan Wongsawat met on Wednesday to discuss joint policy direction and closer coordination between the two ministries. Innovation, science and technology would form a core pillar of economic diplomacy, he said, adding that the Foreign Ministry would work with MHESI under a "Team Thailand" approach. Mr Yodchanan said Thailand had previously pursued science diplomacy, but the current competitive global technological environment has created greater urgency to establish a clearer framework linking research to economic outcomes. Mr Sihasak said science and technology cooperation would be at the heart of Thailand's economic diplomacy, aimed at strengthening national competitiveness and supporting long-term economic development.
