Modi’s request to BJP members of Parliament and legislative assemblies was made at a meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Party on Tuesday. The Opposition parties, protesting against the shortage of usable currency, have alleged that the BJP had tipped off some of its own leaders before demonetisation. ”The amendment is not for turning black money into white but to spend the money looted from the poor on their welfare,” he was quoted as having said. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar told reporters that the bill is part of the Modi government's fight against black money. Kumar said Modi also sought their support to help India usher in digital/ mobile economy and step up cashless transactions.
