The SWS survey, conducted from December 16 to 19, found that 74 percent of Filipinos aged 18 and above said it is better to give than to receive Christmas gifts, while 22 percent said receiving is better than giving. Three percent of Filipinos in Mindanao, however, said the opposite, after garnering a record-high 72 percent rating from last year’s 69 percent. Those who said it is “better to give” also fell in all socio-economic classes compared to the figure last year. The SWS survey had sampling error margins of ±2.6 percent for national percentages, and ±5 percent each for Balance Luzon, Metro Manila, Visayas and Mindanao.
