The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has asked its Investigation and Intelligence Cell (IIC), formed in each tax zone, to strengthen their vigilance and scrutiny to prevent tax evasion. “As part of the drive to catch the tax evaders, the NBR has asked the IIC to take effective steps in this regard,” a senior official at NBR told UNB. Recently, the NBR has given the directive to its field level officials as the first half of the current fiscal has already elapsed. “They’ll send fortnightly reports to the Board on their activities,” the NBR official said. The NBR official said the aim of the IIC is to identify the evaders, individuals or organizations.
