Twice saved: Kawira Mwangaza survives impeachmentMeru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has survived the impeachment motion against her after a Senators voted against the seven charges leveled against her. Governor Mwangaza was facing charges of misappropriation and misuse of county resources, nepotism and related unethical practices, bullying, vilification and demeaning of other leaders. Meru MCAs have twice impeached the governor. She was first impeached in December 2022, but an 11-member Senate Special Committee appointed to probe the grounds for her impeachment submitted a report dismissing the charges.
