New Minimum Wage: Presidency transmits Bill to NASS‎ ‎


The Presidency has at last transmitted the Minimum Wage Bill to the National Assembly for immediate legislative action. The National Council of State had met in Abuja on Tuesday and approved N30, 000 and 27,000 respectively for Federal and State government workers respectively as the new minimum wage in the Country. Shortly after the meeting, ‎the Labour and Productivity Minister, Dr Chris Ngige told newsmen that an Executive Bill to that effect would be forwarded to the National Assembly for legislation. However, the proposal was immediately rejected by the Nigeria Labour Congress. NLC, which described it as unacceptable and insisted on the N30, 000 earlier agreed upon with the Federal government.
