(file photo)New Plymouth Airport has joined a list of a dozen Taranaki locations recognised as a safe space for the LGBTQI+ community. In an emailed statement, the airport said it was now registered with the Safe Space Alliance, a non-profit started by New Plymouth-born artist and advocate for the LGBTQI+ community Shannon Novak. SIMON O'CONNOR/Stuff Artist Shannon Novak started the Safe Space Alliance, a website with a register of places across the globe that are recognised safe spaces for the LGBTQI+ community. Brown said the airport was also working on an instalment for Pride Week in April to show further support for the LGBTQI+ community.
